With only 7 weeks left til graduation from medical school we depart for a long vacation that we have hard earned after four years of hard work, ups, downs and everything in between. And it doubles as a honeymoon since we won't have time for that during residency.
We're heading to Salt Lake City for a 2 week Wilderness Medicine elective. We have some stops planned along the way and afterwards we will continue along a scenic route with detours to get Jeremy to his bachelor party in Las Vegas and finally more detours up the California coast and across the Northwest as we make our way back to Scranton, Pennsylvania. It's going to be wild.
We're prepared for all types of weather as this is April and our destinations range from Arizona to Montana. And we have equipment and clothing for activities ranging from camping to a swanky night out in Vegas. Boots, sneakers, flip flops, heels, tshirts, dresses, white coats, dress pants, shorts, bathing suits, running gear, gloves, hats, a rope, belay, harness, and climbing shoes, tent, sleeping bags, lots of books because we don't own IPads (our box of books could be an apple advertisement), and my favorite: resistance bands to work out our arms while driving. As you can imagine this has been difficult to pack for- but easier than Europe because we can fill a whole car.
